The first time I stepped into the garage I was only 14 years old. I put some make up on and went with my older cousin. Noel was cool with my cousin and let me come in. I received my membership at 15 and partied there until the closing. I danced my ass off. Larry was and is the best! There will never ever be another Garage. I don't even bother going out. These new clubs cannot even compare to the Garage, the people, the music etc. Love you Larry

I just want to say that I knew Larry before he became very huge in the DJ industry. I knew Larry from the Continental Baths when he use to sweep up there and there was a DJ named Joey that use to DJ there and Larry use to hang around with him in the DJ booth and Joey would let him spin from time to time. And when he became huge it was great! He was a true person and lovely person he's truly missed! Thanks.

Was just reading the section in Mel Cherens book where the Garage closed. Almost overcome with tears, I had to play a selection of the closing night at the Garage - I also play this selection with all those in mind who experienced Larry, the love and the Garage...selection as follows: Diana Ross - Someday We'll be Togther; Deodato feat Camille - Are you for Real; Jean Carne - Time Waits for No-One; The Trammps - Where do We Go; Sharon Ridley - Changin' - my gift to you all...RIP Larry and the Garage

Greetings All
Twenty years later and I am still looking for Paradise Garage. It feels just like it did on that last nite and the weeks following the closing. All the rumors about Brody opening up a spot somewhere. I remained so hopeful, as I still do today. I'm sure it sounds crazy to some. The Garage had an indellible effect in my life. Monday mornings when I would go to work, folks could not understand the natural high I was on after a weekend at the Garage. I still miss it so. Thanks for this space you've provided. I'll come here often. Listen, I've got a few copies of original mailings, invitations and flyers. Would you be interested in posting them on the website? Just let me know and I'll get copies to you.
Peace and Love,
MissV

Sadly, I don't think any reincarnation of the Paradise Garage would generate the same kind of atmosphere like the 'club/clubbing' atmosphere was back in the 1970's and the 1980's! It was like a different era sorta! Most of us who partied at the Garage and other similiar places, are in our 40's(like me) or older, and many of our lives have changed dramatically!! ! ! To find that kinda no-holes-barred, partying-to-no-end kinda crowd will be something of a miracle, if not, impossible!! ! ! Although I haven't been out partying in the last 4 years, the times that I've been out were somewhat dissappointing. Sometimes, the music wasn't kick'n enough for me, then there's the fact that most of these clubs close between 2a to 5a! Hell, 2a is when it was just get'n crowded in the Garage!! ! ! It was a different time MissV, and I don't think man has made a device that can turn back time(cause you know i'd be back in the days, dancing/partying my ass off!!!). Anyway, I'll keep on hoping/praying that one day mankind will finally realize the stupidity of their prejudices and truely embrace one another as their sisters and brothers!! ! !
