I just wanted to say thank you- what a beautiful site you have created! I always look to this moment in dance music culture for inspiration, history, reflection, and to remind myself to stay humble as my popularity grows as a dj.

I missed this moment literally by about 5 minutes, which breaks my heart but I did grow up on the talents of Frankie Knuckles and Junior Vasquez and through their magic I retraced the steps back to the Garage and Loft and knew immediately that I would spend my life carrying on this tradition of... quality.

I have been trying to re-create that moment for over 10yrs! I would never copy or try to duplicate the past, that would be idiotic, what I strive for is the ideals of house music. That feeling of 'family', of being an integral part of something so special you dare not tell the wrong people for fear they will poison it just by being present, and the freedom to be an original human being regardless of race, gender or sexual preference.

Fortunately for me things are starting to move forward! One week at my afterhours residency I looked up from the turntables into the crowd and in the midst of the hollywood bottle service wannabe people I saw two boys dancing together. I felt like the composer Salieri in 'Amadeus' when his father choked to death on a chicken bone and he knew he was finally free to pursue his love of music and said, "THANK GOD!"

The following week my dancefloor was all black and all gay. Showtime. The next I was paid a visit by the legendary house of Xtravaganza, and so on. I don't do this for the money or glory, I spin because I love it so #@*%!ing much I can't stop and never will. Honestly I think I couldn't exist without it. I am so thankful I can do this for a living, that somehow it has become a CAREER, and I have always known that I and many many other djs owe this to Larry, Nicky Siano, Frankie, Francis Grasso and David Mancuso mainly. To them I am forever in debt.
thank you again for giving me a new place to visit Larry

Warmest Regards,
Dj Uri Dalal

Hello to all, I am a former member of the Garage (the last six years) and I am a dancer, model, singer and beauty actress. I danced on the Garage dance floor and loved it. I miss the great artists I heard there and I miss Mike Broady's decorating flair. Check me out today at [www.SingDanceModelAct.com] Peace.

can't believe how the years just slam by!? 30 years ago, i was partying at the paradise garage. 20 years ago, the garage closes for the last time. funny how time flies and you don't even know it. one thing though that sticks in my mind is this...eventhough the paradise garage was only in business for a little over a decade, it's influence has lasted twice as long!! just imagine, two decades later, people are still celebrating what the paradise garage was and is all about!! maybe society needs to take a lesson from this!! much love and respect to all you paradise garage disciples and family, here in the northeast and around the world!! ! !

I remember Larry very well we became friends at the Continential Baths. I knew Larry before he became the Icon at the famous Paradise Garage! He was taken from us to soon. I miss him but his music lives on. WE ALL MISS HIM!

I remember always being invited to the Garage in the early 80's, I just never went, I sometimes feel liked I missed out, but thankfully I have most of those Larry Levan's remixes, most notably "Smack Dab in The Middle".
Levan, definitely was the best.
If there is ever a reunion party for the Garage, I will most certainly make an effort to be there.
Thanks for the website, Larry would have been proud
