I was 20 years old when I first went to the Garage. I was amazed at the sound system, diversity of people, and especially Larry Levan's ability to just hypnotize the crowd including myself. I met people that I am still friends with. I traveled the world and went to many clubs but could not find anything close to the experience of the Paradise Garage. I also seen Grace Jones perform for the first time and the line up of artist were fabulous. I hold on to those memories as they are engraved in my spirit. Long live the memory of one of the best clubs that ever exisited. Love my peeps. 84 King Street 4 ever. xxoo

I'M GLAD TO SEE THAT THIS BOOK IS STILL OPEN. I SIGNED ON HERE ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 7, 2009 (#26 & #27) & WAS LOOKING FOR MY LOST BUDDIES FROM THE PG. I HAVE SINCE THEN FOUND THEM ALL & BEEN KEEPING UP WITH THEM ALL ON FACEBOOK. SO, THIS PAGE HAS BEEN A BLESSING. WE ARE ALL SCATTERED AROUND BUT IT AIN'T NO PROBLEM FOR US TO GET ON AN AIRPLANE AND MEET UP IN NYC TO HAVE THOSE LARRY LEVAN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS. HAVE A BLESSED DAY. SUPER HUGS.

Larry lives in every one he touched with the music. The Garage will NEVER be duplicated. I am blessed & feel privileged that I called him my friend. We are the privileged few who lived & survived those times. Love is the message!

My first visit to the Garage was on Halloween of 1981; this disco/club experience was none to ever be compared with anywhere I've been even today. A non-member, my wicked outfits and Foxx-like charm always allowed me passage. As I heard, I didn't believe that the ground outside actually shook from the fierce music from inside, it did! Intimidating, when I finally was in at the top of the ramp, I was amazed by all of the beautiful children (gay family) and their fabulous costumes of leather to sequins to feathers!!! The Peech Boys "Don't make me wait" was the premier song Larry played electrically that night making for a most sensational time of my life! Amtrak was $23.50 round trip to & fro Philly then; thereafter, I made many trips to hear one of my all time favorites perform there a many of nights, Grace Jones!Dressed like her one night, black spandex jeans, red suede tank, black pointy lizard boots, I boldly walked up the stairs to the dj booth and one of the two fine Hispanic fella's doing security let me in with Larry, thanks I met Grace!!!Sadly missed but wonderful everlasting memories cherished...Thank you for this memorable site!!! The Paradise Garage was my second home my first time there was with my cousin Maggie and from that day on it became my 2nd home. I have nothing but fond memories, fun and stories of the Garage that are still vivid in my mind, body & soul those were the days. I miss this place, nothing can compare not now or not in the future. It was one of kind type of club loved the people and energy always it was all about love, fun, dancing and unity.
